Mandy of the Opera

Description

Something I was inspired to draw while listening to "Phantom of the Opera" I wondered in my mind if it were possible to put the (high-level) Dungeons and Dragons characters into the storyline of The Phantom of the Opera. The resulting thought process set my character, Mandy, and my fiance's character, Masamune, into the rolls of Erik and Christine respectively.

Now let me put this to you straight. I put my character as the Phantom for two reasons. First of all, Mandy isn't human; she's vulperian (fox people), and as such has characteristics such as fox ears that in a strictly human environment would be considered abnormal. The other reason is because her personality works well into that of the Phantom's -- book smart, loves music, and falls in love with the leading performer on the stage. Masamune was a bit trickier to get into Christine's part, not because he's a guy, but because of his personality. Masamune is not a performer; I justified his role as out of neccessity to escape from persecution. (still working out the details on that) Anyways, he becomes a performer, and a good one at that. The "Lady of the Opera" becomes infatuated with him and tries to get him to fall in love with her, but fails many times before eventually he falls in love with her.

Now, before you hardcore PotO fans start coming after me about the character Raoul (sp?), i've omitted him from the situation because in the actual Dungeons and Dragons campaign, Masamune and Mandy are happily married. The only backdoor way i can see for Raoul to be in it was for him to be replaced by an NPC called Mixtec, who was engaged to Mandy, but she fled from him because she didn't love him and he was only after her legendary bloodline.

Now, getting back to the picture at hand.... why should Mandy have the mask if there is nothing wrong with her face as was the case with Erik? Well, as mentioned earlier, she's vulperian. She wears the mask so that people will wonder "what's wrong with her face?" and pay no attention to her fox ears. The mask has fox ears so that anyone who does see her ears will only think that they are part of her disguise. Makes some loose kind a sense, right?

Please tell me what you think. I didn't do this to infuriate PotO fans at all, and if I've made some bad guesses about stuff to do with the PotO characters, then please accept my apologies-- I've only started doing research on the story and haven't quite gotten down all of the intricate details yet. I'm working on it though.

Mandy is honestly nothing like the phantom, but it's a nice piece, watch or read Phantom, and you'll see why. Angel's vampire side is kinda like the phantom.....pissyness wise, and mean-ness wise
